“The D4R laptop was manufactured by MicroPro Computers and the partners in this case study are Wroclaw University of Technology, GAIA (GAIA is the Association of Industries for Electronic and Information Technologies in the Basque country), University of Limerick, BOKU (University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna), AUO Optronics, Technical University of Berlin & MicroPro Computers.

ZeroWin had 3 main goals:

  • A 30% reduction in greenhouse emissions
  • A 70% reduction in waste
  • A 75% reduction in fresh water use

ZeroWin Case Study 1 aimed at achieving these objectives (or at least two of them) on the basis of design and development of a prototype laptop called the D4R (Designed 4 Reuse)”.
